What grade did the Vikings first round draft pick earn?
The Vikings made Ohio State’s Donovan Jackson their first-round pick of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
The versatile offensive lineman has played both tackle and guard during his time in Columbus, but is projected to be a guard in the NFL. For the Vikings, it can be expected that he will be taking over the starting left guard spot from Blake Brandel. The team has shown an affinity for the type of offensive linemen who are athletic and can play multiple positions, Jackson fits that mold.
Analysis of the pick
As for what he did on the field, he played both tackle and guard, as we mentioned in 2024. Before that, he had played left guard exclusively, so he is going to be getting back to his natural position. On 1,314 pass blocking snaps, Jackson only surrendered five sacks during his time at Ohio State, which is precisely what J.J. McCarthy wants to hear.
Not to mention, he proved to be a tremendous run blocker for TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. PFF graded his run blocking at 70.2, which is one of their better ones they handed out. That lets us arrive at our grade for the Vikings pick.
Grade: A
