Steph Curry's Warriors May Delay Major Caitlin Clark Game

By David Web

The excitement around Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever squad may be even higher than it was prior to her rookie season.

When Clark made her preseason debut this past Sunday at Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena, where she played during her illustrious college career, around 15,000 fans were in attendance. ESPN also reported that the game averaged 1.3 million viewers, making it the third most-watched game in NBA/WNBA history. The only two games that outranked it featured LeBron James.

While Fever fans are understandably excited for Clark, fans who support other teams are also eager to see last year’s WNBA Rookie of the Year. The Fever were even selling a T-shirt depicting all of the away games they have already sold out before the regular season.

However, one game featured on the shirt that is sold out and could be in jeopardy of being rescheduled is the June 19 game against the Golden State Valkyries. As revealed in a report by Front Office Sports’ Colin Salao, should the Golden State Warriors, with whom the Valkyries share the Chase Center, make the NBA Finals, the Fever-Valkyries could be bumped to another day.

“The two teams play at the Chase Center, but they don’t currently have any overlapping games scheduled,” wrote Salao. “However, there may be a conflict if the Warriors make the NBA Finals, as Game 6 is set for June 19—the same day the Valkyries host the Fever.”

Obviously, a lot needs to be settled before that can become a concern, as Steph Curry and the Warriors still need 11 more wins even to reach the NBA Finals.

However, with Curry dealing with a hamstring issue that will keep him sidelined for at least a week, the Warriors’ chances of making the NBA Finals have taken a major hit. FanDuel currently has the Dubs as having the worst odds (+3000) of making the finals.

While it would be quite a run for the Warriors, Valkyries fans are likely hoping they don’t have to worry about their game being rescheduled.
