Caitlin Clark Draws Attention for What She Did Before Fever Game on Tuesday

Caitlin Clark Draws Attention for What She Did Before Fever Game on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

For the Indiana Fever, the first two weeks of the WNBA season have not quite gone as planned. Not only did the team scuffle against two of the league’s better teams–the Dream and the Liberty–with a healthy Caitlin Clark on hand, but the Fever then lost Clark to a quad injury and suffered two more losses, falling in back-to-back games to winless Washington and Connecticut.

On Tuesday, though, with Clark still out, the team turned things around. Indiana won a rematch against the Mystics, 85-76, finally showing they can adjust to stretches with Clark on the bench. Kelsey Mitchell racked up 24 points and Sophie Cunningham had 14 to lead the way for Indiana.

Despite the injury, Clark was alongside with the team. And she certainly understands the sting of fans who bought tickets for the game to watch her play but instead, are watching her in street clothes.

According to a post from “The Fieldhouse Files” author Scott Agness, Clark put in time pregame trying to meet and greet fans.

“Caitlin Clark signs autographs for fans pregame. She understands how much this — by her and teammates — means to young girls and boys,” Agness wrote.

“Bless her heart,” one fan wrote, without irony.

Another added, “She really does the Lords work! Because seriously ppl have spent so much money to get to those games. The small gesture means a lot.”

And there was this: “This adds so much value to the league and none of the other players acknowledge it.”

That’s not exactly true, as this post from WNBA Indy Star reporter Chloe Peterson shows–Sophie Cunningham was doing the same thing.

Clark does draw a crowd, of course, as another fan noted: “So important for her to be there. Seriously does any other player have the lines that she does?”

As for Clark’s injury, she is slated to be re-evaluated after two weeks, which means she will miss Saturday’s game on the road against the Chicago Sky and her quad injury will be checked after that. Indiana is now 3-4 on the season.
