USC Immediately Winning Over 6-foot-4 Louisiana 2028 Talent originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

USC is near completion of its talent-heavy 2026 class. The Trojans are even already eyeing 2027 talent. But they’re also getting an early jump on members of the 2028 class — particularly a 6-foot-4 talent from Louisiana.

Defensive lineman Chance Archangel reeled in an early offer from USC back in May. He then took in the USC campus and competed in the Trojans’ showcase camp held on Tuesday. The edge rusher was among the younger athletes competing at the summer event.

Is USC already building a strong relationship and making a great impression on Archangel? He dove into how USC is already winning him over with Chris Trevino of 247Sports Wednesday

“Overall, it’s been a great experience to be out here this is my first time. I’ve learned a lot of new things, and the workouts were even better because I was getting some great quality work with the coaches and other recruits,” Archangel told Trevino. “Seeing the coaches take their time to actually teach me and give me tips was awesome.”

The west coast handed him a different vibe compared to his hometown of New Iberia — sandwiched between Lake Charles and New Orleans.

“I loved it. L.A. has a different vibe to it,” Archangel said. “The weather, the energy, just everything felt big.”

But he grew impressed with another part of L.A. he got to check out.

“The USC campus was crazy too, it’s a real historic place and you can feel the legacy when you’re walking through there,” he said.

He left the camp with no regrets of attending, saying “I came to work and prove I belong out here.” He’s used to facing elder competition anyway, revealing he started interacting with high school players as young as five years of age.

Archangel already shares two prominent Louisiana connections at USC. Defensive line coach Eric Henderson lived in the state before. USC also has prized true freshman Jahkeem Stewart, who grabbed a photo with Archangel

The Westgate High 2028 talent already holds six scholarship offers. Miami and Texas A&M are two power conference programs on him early.
