Huge changes in Steelers post-training camp mock draft update
With Pittsburgh Steelers training camp in the books, we decided it was time to update our 2026 mock draft and go four rounds this time around. When we put this mock draft together, we had to give serious consideration to the quarterback position and despite several elite players on the board in the first round, the team couldn’t pass on a possible franchise signal caller.
This time around, we also looked at the frustrating contract situation surrounding defensive tackle Cameron Heyward and decided to use a pick to draft his potential replacement should he or the Steelers decide to move on.
First round – Quarterback – Drew Allar, Penn State
The comparisons to Ben Roethlisberger are easy when you watch Allar and being a Penn State player, the fans will love him. In this simulation, when the Steelers went on the clock with the No. 18 overall pick, four quarterbacks were already off the board, so some might view taking the fifth quarterback of the round as a reach.
Second round – Cornerback – Tacario Davis, Washington
We thought Tacario Davis was a potential first-round pick last season when he was at Arizona, so we can’t wait to see how he works in with Washington and see if he’s a good fit with the rest of the Steelers’ cornerbacks as a possible replacement for Darius Slay.
Third round – Defensive line – DeMonte Capehart, Clemson
By the time the draft gets here, landing the massive DeMonte Capehart might be wishful thinking. But for now, he’s just a great value here as an ideal inside/outside defensive tackle for the Steelers to start opposite Derrick Harmon.
Third round – Offensive guard – Ar’maj Reed-Adams, Texas A&M
It isn’t clear if the Steelers will try to re-sign Isaac Seumalo, so it’s best to plan for the future with a mauler like Ar’Maj Reed-Adams.
Fourth round – Wide receiver – Nyck Harbor, South Carolina
Nyck Harbor is a huge target and something of a hybrid wide receiver/tight end and could be a matchup nightmare with wide receiver DK Metcalf and tight end Pat Freiermuth.
