Steelers projected as top landing spot for Shilo Sanders following Buccaneers exit
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ Shilo Sanders experiment has come to an end — but the Pittsburgh Steelers were just listed as a possible landing spot for the Colorado Buffaloes standout.
According to Bleacher Report’s Joseph Zucker, the Steelers are one of three probable landing spots for Sanders — pointing to his connection with Steelers scout Kelvin Fisher and the loss of Minkah Fitzpatrick in support of the prediction.
“During Colorado’s pro day in April, Sanders had a moment with Kelvin Fisher, a West Coast scout for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Zucker wrote. “Pittsburgh traded star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick back to the Miami Dolphins in June. The team turned around and signed Chuck Clark a month later, having already added Juan Thornhill and undrafted free agent Sebastian Castro. Perhaps head coach Mike Tomlin is willing to give Sanders a shot in the hope of finding a young, long-term solution at the safety position.”
Acquiring Sanders seems like a low-risk, high-reward signing, but his recent outburst against the Buffalo Bills — when he threw a punch in just his third preseason outing — left much to be desired.
While a potential signing would be polarizing to say the least, there might be no one more against Pittsburgh acquiring Sanders than former Steelers WR Antonio Brown — who recently blasted Shilo, Shedeur, and Deion Sanders on social media following the Tampa Bay exit.
