Kristaps Porzingis Makes Knicks Admission After Celtics Elimination

By David Web

Kristaps Porzingis had high praise for New York Knicks fans after his former team eliminated the Boston Celtics with a dominant 119-81 win in Game 6.

The Knicks dominated Porzingis and the Celtics 119-81 in Game 6, clinching the series and punching their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000. Kristaps Porzingis, who was drafted No. 4 overall by the Knicks in 2015 and spent three seasons in New York without a playoff appearance, expressed his happiness for the fans of his former team, despite being on the losing end of the series.

“The support from the Knicks fans was through the roof tonight and all throughout the playoffs,” Porzingis said. “Unbelievable fans, unbelievable city and there’s a side of me that’s very very happy for them.”

Porzingis was a non-factor in the series due to a mysterious illness. He averaged just 15.5 minutes and 4.2 points per game.

“I always try to downplay it in my own mind, like, ‘I’m good, I’m good, I’m good,’” Porzingis said. “But I don’t know, my system is not perfect right now, not working the way it should be. Many, many weird things. Might be the best thing I need right now is just to rest, just get somewhere in the sun and just let my system kind of even itself out.”

The Knicks are set to battle the Indiana Pacers with a trip to the Finals at stake. The Pacers punched their ticket by eliminating the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in just five games.
