NBA’s Six-Word Response on Nuggets’ Victory Over Thunder

By David Web

The Denver Nuggets were playing for their playoff lives on Thursday in Game 6 of the second round against the Oklahoma City Thunder. But they earned a 119-107 win, and they will now be playing for a trip to the Western Conference Finals in Game 7 on Sunday.

They got strong performances from multiple players, and as a team, they held down the Thunder defensively during key stretches and dominated the backboards in order to claim this victory.

The NBA had a post on X about the Nuggets’ big win with a simple message.

“Riding high in the Mile High,” the caption read.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, the team’s two main stars, have been inconsistent in this series, but both delivered with the season on the line. Jokic shot 9-of-14 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line and had 29 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists, while Murray finished with 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists despite feeling ill.

Off the bench, Julian Strawther was a key contributor with 15 points in 20 minutes.

For the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 32 points on 11-of-16 shooting, but Jalen Williams had an awful night, as he missed 13 of his 16 shot attempts.

One would expect the Thunder to be the favorites to win Game 7, especially since Game 7 will be played on their home court. But they’re a very young team that hasn’t played in a winner-take-all game before.

Denver, on the other hand, has been there before. It lost a Game 7 in the second round to the Minnesota Timberwolves last year, and in 2020, it played in two Game 7s in the first two rounds and won both.
