New Kevin Durant Trade Report Reveals the Three Teams He Prefers to Play For originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Phoenix Suns will trade Kevin Durant soon, meaning the Hall of Famer will play for his fifth different team next season.
Durant, 36, has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s a one-time MVP, a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP and a four-time scoring champion.
The eighth leading scorer in NBA history, Durant has one year left on his contract. The superstar forward doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, so he can’t control where the Suns trade him.
A top 75 player of all time, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line. He’s still one of the top scorers in the NBA.
Several teams are interested in trading for Durant, but according to Shams Charania of ESPN, Durant prefers to play for the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets or San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs missed the playoffs this year, the Heat got swept in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Rockets lost to the Warriors in the first round in seven games.
Since leaving the Warriors in 2019, Durant has been swept in the first round of the playoffs twice. He hasn’t gotten to the conference finals since departing Golden State.
Durant became an NBA champion with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018. He has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 1,123 NBA games.
It will be fascinating to see where Durant is playing in 2025-26.
