Portage County high school baseball, softball, track scores, recaps for May 19-25

Here is a look at what happened across Portage County high school sports on May 19, 2025 (all varsity coaches are welcome to send results to [email protected]):

Softball

Northwestern 12, Southeast 4

The Huskies took quick control of Monday’s Division V district semifinal, leading 10-1 at one point, behind a bevy of two-out runs. Gabby Cuber bashed a two-out, two-strike, two-run homer to give Northwestern a 2-0 lead in the first. Alysa Troyan added a two-run, two-out rip up the middle in the second to double the Huskies’ lead. Troyan also tossed a complete game for Northwestern, scattering five hits while coercing a number of groundouts.

Morgan Muncy reached base three times to lead Southeast, which set a program record with 16 wins this season.

Mogadore 7, Lake Center 0

Addie Christy tossed a shutout for the Wildcats, scattering eight hits and striking out eight without giving up a walk. Christy threw an impressive 76 of 101 pitches for strikes to lift Mogadore to a Division VI district semifinal win. Christy also had a triple at the plate, while Autumn Betts and Rylee Clark knocked in two runs apiece. Gracie Funk, Lily Hotchkiss and Betts each had a double.

Baseball

Streetsboro 5, Marlington 1

Jack Batten, Brayden Burfield, Brett Epple, Brady Long and Scott Wilson combined on a no-hitter, with Epple and Long pitching two innings apiece and Burfield, Batten and Wilson each tossing an inning. Wilson also had two of Streetsboro’s five hits, including a double.

Field 7, Revere 4

Down 3-0, the Falcons rallied with four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh. Sam Confer singled, doubled and drove in three runs for Field while Joey Conroy doubled, scored two runs and had an RBI.

Southeast 6, Canton South 2

The Pirates surged to their 18th win of the season behind a five-run top of the first and a complete game from Caden Dillon, who allowed just two runs.

Cohen Richardson went 3 for 3 from the cleanup spot with a double, two runs and two RBIs while Southeast’s five-hitter, Caleb Miller, also had multiple hits.

Roosevelt 11, Cuyahoga Falls 5

The Rough Riders (11-13, 6-7 Suburban American) inched closer to .500 thanks to a complete game from Braden Darkow, who allowed five runs (just one earned) and struck out six. Teddy Maccarone and Johnny Estep had two hits and two RBIs apiece to lead Roosevelt at the plate.
