Real Madrid veteran not thinking about joining another club amid expiring contract
Dani Carvajal will be a key talking point for Real Madrid at the start of 2026, as the club await his return to the pitch after yet another injury layoff.
The defender is hoping to return in time for the Spanish Super Cup, as he recently resumed group training.
But a bigger worry for Real Madrid will be the veteran defender, with the player’s current contract at the Bernabeu expiring at the end of the season.
Real Madrid will be mindful of the fact that the team has struggled after losing veterans such as Nacho, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in recent years. Renewing Carvajal, therefore, could be critical.
Carvajal not thinking about another club
A recent report from Diario AS has offered an update on the future of Carvajal, suggesting that the defender remains calm about his future.
The Spaniard is not thinking beyond this season and is in no hurry to resolve his future. He knows the club trusts him, and if he can prove his fitness and secure significant playing time, a renewal offer for another season will likely follow.

This would also keep his dream alive of making the World Cup squad, a possibility raised by national team coach Luis de la Fuente.
Crucially, the full-back is not considering a transfer to a distant destination outside the competitive elite. He has reportedly received massive financial offers but has refused to even enter negotiations.
Recent speculation surrounding his trip to Qatar has also been dismissed; the visit was strictly to see Joselu and spend time with family, not to negotiate with clubs.
For Carvajal, Real Madrid is home. He wants to stay, but only if his body allows him to be a key contributor. With 13 seasons under his belt, his competitive spirit remains intact, and his priority is to earn his place on the field rather than seek a payday elsewhere.
