Steelers to sign former Panthers linebacker, per report
The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly signing a standout special teams contributor to their practice squad.
Following Monday’s apparently successful visit with the Steelers, former Seahawks and Panthers LB Jon Rhattigan is reportedly signing with Pittsburgh’s practice squad, per Fox Sports’ Greg Auman.
Former Seahawks and Panthers linebacker Jon Rhattigan, cut by Carolina last week, is signing with the Steelers today after a visit. Army grad is 26, a special-teams standout who has 44 tackles in four NFL seasons.

Signing with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Army in 2021, Rhattigan quickly carved out a role as a special teams standout and capable depth piece at linebacker. He was waived by Seattle in August 2024, when he was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers.
Following his Panthers release as part of final roster cuts, Rhattigan has a new home in Pittsburgh — further bolstering the Steelers’ practice squad with even stronger depth for both defense and special teams.
