The opening day of the group stage of the U20 World Cup wrapped up on Monday night with the matches in Groups E and F.
Morocco pulled off a shock by defeating Spain (2-0). In fact, it was the only African victory, as the continent’s three other representatives fell short.
Egypt, South Africa, and Nigeria were beaten by Japan (0-2), France (1-2), and Norway (0-1) respectively.
The United States recorded a massive win over the tournament’s minnows, New Caledonia, with a resounding 9-1 scoreline.
