Video: Deontay Wilder successful in boxing return, scores seventh-round TKO win
Deontay Wilder just scored his first win since 2022.
The former WBC heavyweight champion defeated Tyrrell Herndon, picking up a seventh-round TKO. The heavyweight contest went down on Friday night at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan. You can watch Wilder’s stoppage win in the video below:

With this win, Wilder, 39, was able to snap a two-fight losing skid, and successfully return from a year layoff.
He was coming off a fifth-round TKO loss to China’s Zhilei Zhang last June in Saudi Arabia. It was a big loss that had many questioning Wilder’s future in the sport, as he was 1-4 in his past five fights, with three of those defeats coming by stoppage. His only victory during that stretch was a KO win over Robert Helenius in October 2022.
Wilder was one of the big poster boys of the heavyweight division just a few years ago. In 2018, he fought to a draw against Tyson Fury in one of the best boxing matches in heavyweight history. The two went on to fight two more times in 2020 and 2021, with Fury winning both fights by stoppage. At his peak, Wilder was undefeated with 42 wins and 10 consecutive defenses of the WBC title.
