The final of the African Super Cup between Pyramids and RS Berkane will be officiated by Mahmood Ismail. Who is this Sudanese referee who will take center stage?
Winners of the CAF Champions League, Pyramids host RS Berkane, 2025 CAF Confederation Cup champions, at Cairo’s 30 June Stadium, aiming to add another trophy to their collection.
The Confederation of African Football has appointed Mahmoud Ismail as the match referee, assisted by Mohamed Abdallah Ibrahim and Gilbert Chirou. Abdel Aziz Bouh will serve as the fourth official.
Mahmood Ismail has been a FIFA referee since 2016. The 37-year-old official has taken charge of several top interclub clashes, including Al Ahly vs Raja Casablanca in the 2022-2023 season.
He was also in charge of several 2026 World Cup qualifiers, including Egypt vs Guinea-Bissau, as well as a 2022 CHAN match between Algeria and Mozambique.
Ismail is known for his readiness to brandish yellow and red cards, having handed out more than 120 cards in 40 international matches.
