Broncos get superstar back ahead of Week 13 vs. Commanders

The Denver Broncos enter Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders on an eight-game winning streak. Meanwhile, Washington enters Sunday’s contest on a six-game losing streak. Both teams are coming off a bye week and are getting a superstar back. For Washington, it’s wide receiver Terry McLaurin, while the Broncos get back reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, cornerback Patrick Surtain II, back.

Surtain has missed the past three games with a partially torn pectoral muscle. The 25-year-old Surtain is a two-time first-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler, in addition to being the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He rejoins a defense that leads the NFL with 49 sacks and has the lowest QBR for opposing quarterbacks, via ESPN.

Surtain was impressed with the Broncos’ defense while he was sidelined.

“Them guys, they exude a lot of confidence out there; they were playing lights out, it made me a fan to watch on the sidelines,” Surtain said, via Jeff Legwold of ESPN. “You could tell everybody was together, flying around, playing good ball.”

Denver’s defense is ranked No. 3 in total defense, No. 5 in pass defense and No. 3 in run defense. Washington’s offense will have its hands full.

McLaurin’s return is good news for the Commanders. However, quarterback Jayden Daniels remains sidelined for another week.

Unsurprisingly, the Broncos are favored for this Sunday’s game at Northwest Stadium, and Surtain’s return makes things even more difficult for Washington’s offense.
