Warriors Reportedly ‘Balked’ at Kings’ Trade Offer for Jonathan Kuminga originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

It has been an underwhelming offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors as they have yet to make any moves in free agency despite many expecting them to be active this summer.

Of course, the Warriors entered the offseason looking to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, but they have yet to make a major splash thus far.

The only moves the Warriors have made this offseason was during the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft where they selected Alex Toohey and Will Richard.

Since the draft, Golden State has been linked to many players in free agency and on the trade market but they have yet to make a move and they also lost Kevon Looney to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Of course, Golden State is still awaiting a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, who could either join a new team via a sign-and-trade this offseason or elect to return to the Warriors.

There have been many teams linked to Kuminga during free agency, including the Sacramento Kings who reportedly made an offer for the young forward.

According to Warriors insider Anthony Slater, the Kings offered a package of Devin Carter, Dario Saric and draft capital but the Warriors “balked” at their offer.

This is not a surprising report as it seems as though the Kings were looking to steal Kuminga away from the Warriors, which Golden State is not going to allow to happen as they try to upgrade their roster in a potential sign-and-trade deal.

This also sends a message to other teams around the NBA who may be interested in Kuminga as it is clear that the Warriors are looking for a larger package for their young forward.

While that may be the case, Kuminga’s looming decision is a massive one for the Warriors, especially since they have yet to make any other moves during free agency.
