Warriors' Steve Kerr Speaks on Unusual Game Plan That Led to Game 2 Loss

By David Web

Game 2 of the matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors was exactly what fans expected.

Golden State needed to adjust without their superstar point guard in Stephen Curry as he will be missing an extended period of time with a hamstring strain and missed his first playoff game since 2018.

The Warriors weren’t able to find the right answers and it resulted in a 117-93 blowout loss to the Timberwolves.

One major factor that the Warriors struggled with was their three-point shooting and this was expected as they are without the greatest shooter of all time in Curry.

When speaking to the media after the game, Head Coach Steve Kerr told the media that their game plan heading into the game wasn’t to depend on other known leaders on the team in Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.

“I didn’t want to push it with Draymond or Jimmy. I didn’t want to chase this game unless it was really gettable… We went into the game thinking that we are playing a lot of people short-burst minutes and are trying to protect Jimmy [Butler] and Draymond [Green],”

Kerr explained that he was worried with the workload that his team is getting.

Golden State only got one day’s rest before having to face the Timberwolves in the second round.

It was because of the long, hard fought series they played in the round before with the Houston Rockets – a series that went to Game 7 and had to play that game at the Rockets’ home court.

Golden State and Minnesota will be traveling back to the Warriors’ home court for Game’s 3 and 4 with a series that’s tied 1-1.
